CleanCache is built to work on your Mac without sending your files anywhere. This page explains the little data the app does send.
What stays on your Mac
- All scanning and cleaning happens locally.
- File names, folder paths and file contents are never sent.
- Folder access you grant is stored as a macOS security bookmark on your Mac only.
Anonymous usage data
To learn which tools are useful and how much space they free, the app sends:
- A random install ID created on your Mac (not linked to your name, email or Apple ID)
- App opens, which tabs and buttons are used, and how many bytes / items a scan found or a clean removed per tool
- App version, macOS version, Mac model, chip type, language/region setting and total disk size
This is sent to our own server and to Google Firebase Analytics. Our server does not store IP addresses. You can turn it off any time in CleanCache → Settings → General → Share anonymous usage data; unsent data is then deleted from your Mac.
This website
The website counts page views and clicks on the App Store buttons to see which pages help people find the app. It uses no cookies and no third-party trackers. A random ID kept only for the open browser tab groups one visit; we also store the page, the referring website, campaign tags (utm_*), the device type (Mac, iPhone, Windows…) and the country if our host provides it. IP addresses are not stored.
Feedback
If you send feedback from the app, the name, email and message you enter are stored so we can reply.
